Daltokki

Restaurant Interior Design / Vancouver, BC, Canada

Daltokki is a Korean restaurant & bar located in the South Main neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC. The name of the restaurant comes from the legend of the “daltokki”, which means “moon rabbit” in Korean. While western cultures have tended to see a ‘Man on the Moon’ in the pattern on the moon’s surface, Asian cultures have described it as looking like a rabbit. This has given rise to a folktale of rabbits pounding rice cakes under a cinnamon tree on the moon. This legend represents several significant symbols, including abundance of harvest, longevity of life, and essence of vitality. Daltokki will use this folktale as a basis for a contemporary style Korean restaurant.

Inspired by moonlight, Daltokki is bathed in warm light. The yellow glow is cast upon ornate wooden features, borrowed from traditional Korean window frames. The legend of the moon rabbit is referenced in traditional art prints and lunar shapes, bringing the folktale to life.

Daltokki will bring you into a vision of tranquil nights under a moonlit sky. It’s an exclusive fine dining experience with a whimsical touch.
